Susan Howard serves as Director of the BATIC Institute. She previously held the position of Program Manager for Freight at the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
Prior to joining AASHTO, she worked as Director of Government Relations and Legislative Affairs for the National Association of Development Organizations. She also served as the Federal Programs Coordinator for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant, responsible for transportation issues for a member of congress from her home state of North Carolina.
Susan earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C.
Alex Clegg serves as a Program Specialist with the BATIC Institute. Prior to working with the BATIC Institute, Alex was a WaterCorps Fellow at the University of North Carolina Environmental Finance Center, where he provided financial planning and technical assistance to rural water and wastewater utilities. He has also served as an intern with the Coalition for Smarter Growth and Boundary Stone Partners. In 2015, Alex completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina with majors in Environmental Studies and Economics, as well as a minor in City and Regional Planning.
